Famous NASCAR Cars and Drivers


In the sport of NASCAR, everyone thinks their driver is the most famous. In a way, they all are, but there are a few that stand out above the rest.

Dale Earnhardt, Sr., otherwise known as "The Intimidator," is one of the most famous NASCAR drivers of all time. Dale was a legend in his days of racing and was best known for his hard-driving style. With 76 career wins and 7 Winston Cup Championship wins, he made quite a splash in the NASCAR ranks. In 1975, Dale made his Winston Cup debut. In 1979, Rod Osterlund gave Dale his first full-time Winston Cup ride. In 1980, Dale was the only driver to win the rookie crown and the series’ championship in consecutive seasons. Tragically, in 2001, Dale was killed at the Daytona 500 on the final lap. Dale Earnhardt drove Chevrolet race cars all but 2 seasons. The infamous #3 was and always will be well known on the track.

Richard Petty, known as the "King," is also one of the most famous NASCAR drivers. Richard is considered the greatest NASCAR driver of all. He was the first driver to every win the NARCAR Championship 7 times. Richard also won a total of 200 races during his racing days. In 1958, Richard began his long racing career. He has also won the Most Popular Driver Award 9 times. Richard is known for always being in his trademark cowboy hat and sun glasses. He retired in 1992 after having a long and successful racing career. Richard Petty drove the #43 car during his career.
